Good experiences during school practical

Hi everyone

Good experiences, can be good lessons, funny moments and secret moments shared between a teacher and a student.

Good lessons to me are when learners stop me and tell me, please go back or your are too fast. It makes me feel like I am doing something right. Because they care, listen and are self-regulating. These are the things we want to teach our learners, we want them to become the best people that they could be. 

Funny moments can be when I make a lame joke and the class laughs for me with me. Something that also happens every day, is when I make a mistake. It can be using the wrong term or calculation errors. I handle this in two ways, I either say oops I was testing to see if you were paying attention (assessing if the class understands and pay attention) or I just say I was wrong, this shows the class that you are human and you make mistakes too.

Secret moments were when a learners is in need of someone to listen them or pick up a pen or pencil from the floor without them asking for it. 

I was able to build a good relationship with my grade  accounting class. They respected me, gave the space to learn with them, gave me feedback with regards to my teaching and communicated what they need from during and after lessons. One of the learners were acting like a boy all the time, I mean they are still children, instead of screaming or being negative all the time I would use positive reinforcement. He would sometimes shout out random answers without thinking first. I told him that I believe in him, he is smart and if he just thinks before he speaks he will be able to answer correctly. By the time I had my lesson with my professor, he decided on his own to sit at the front of the class because he would then talk less and he gave correct answers because I thought them threw first. I told him how proud I am, so that he would know I see him. I had a lovely lesson and received exceptional marks. The learners listened to everything I said, followed orders and when they didn't want to work they faked it so that the professor won't see. We celebrated my mark the next day and I thanked them from the bottom of my heart. 

This are just a few bits of good experiences, there were any more. These experiences is why we become teachers.
